Friday Foto #11

This large protruding rock on the right in the photo above is known as Hanging Rock, which is the premier attraction at Hanging Rock State Park, in Danbury, North Carolina. So, in honor of yesterday being my 9th anniversary, I thought that this week’s Friday Foto would include a shot from the trip we took to this park for last year’s anniversary. It’s a tradition we started several years ago, to celebrate every anniversary with a camping trip, since it is something we love to do, and is an important part of our history together.

Hanging Rock was a beautiful place, and one that we’d never been to (an annual goal—to go somewhere we have not been yet) so we were quite excited. The weather was beautiful but frigidly COLD and since the entire state of NC was under a drought, we could not have campfires, which sadly dampened the trip to a degree and made our nights that much colder. It would have been helpful to have that no fires info put up on the website, since we drove 7 hrs. looking forward to a nice fire, with 2 big boxes of firewood in the truck. NICE. . .

We adapted and survived, and the trip was great. We’d both highly recommend this park as a great place to go camping and there are some nice hiking trails as well. Speaking of hiking—the hike up to Hanging Rock itself is a workout but once up there, you are treated to glorious views of the area. I may post one of the shots from up top on a future Friday Foto post. Until then, enjoy the view from down below!
