Welcome to October everyone, and the official 3 month mark of construction on our house. This past week saw this place busier than it has ever been since this madness started, and due to the stellar weather, a ton of work got done on many many fronts.
Since it was the same crews of people each day, I’ll let you know just who all was here doing their respective jobs each day. In addition to the items below, we also bought our cabinet for the powder room, and ordered the sink, faucet and other powder room accessories. We also got our laundry shoot cut out, which was a pretty genius idea that Kristi had about using space in between 2 joists upstairs to knock a hole out to the laundry room below.
Electricians: They were here every day this week doing all the electrical rough in work, so we can get ready for our upcoming electrical inspection this week. Kristi and I were having to make lots of decisions about where lights, switches and plugs are going, as well as getting lots of lights and a ceiling fan ordered.
HVAC: Our new Zone System was installed this week, but not before our old model and all the basement duct work was demoed and removed, as well as all our duct work in the new space being installed. These guys were here everyday as well, and by yesterday were all done. The old AC condenser also went bye bye, so that is all finished now.
Masons: The brick and stone were delivered Monday, and the guys spent Monday through Wednesday doing the stone work along the bottom of the house, after weatherproofing the block. The remainder of the week, and even today, on Saturday, found them laying the brick, and doing an amazing job of blending old brick that we saved off the back of the house, with new brick that we bought.
Roofers: They came yesterday and started doing our new roof, and wrapped up today, so we are officially completely dried in. What a relief!
Every day this past week we were bombarded with questions, conversations and decisions we had to make about all kinds of things, and it was very hard to get any work done. But, it was all good, because we were amazed at how much happened this week. Praise the Lord we kept our cool to each other and everyone else, because He has taken such great care of us in giving us amazing people working on our home. As crazy as it has been at times, we are doing well I think. Of course ready to stop living in a bubble (with 3 zipper doors in the house now) and to have our house back, but thankful for where we are too. It has been fun to be a big part of all this, instead of just writing checks and moving in when it is finished.
As usual, go here to check out the latest photos, and be sure to check back next weekend when we hope to have more—maybe even of sheetrock!
